Largest cleaning and painting project in the South
Painting and performing structural steel repairs to this bridge will extend the life of the bridge, a vital link between East Baton Rouge and West Baton Rouge parishes, while improving the overall appearance of the structure and revitalizing the surrounding area for residents and businesses. KGC Environmental oversaw the environmental monitoring during abrasive blasting.
The Huey P. Long – (US 190 Bridge) is a truss cantilever bridge over the Mississippi River carrying US 190 (Airline Highway) and one rail line between East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana and West Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana.
This work included comprehensive structural repairs to the main span as well as all approach towers and metalwork. It also included containment, abrasive blasting and painting of the entire bridge and approach. This is the single largest lead paint removal project to take place in the Southern United States.
