About the Project
The Murray Lock and Dam is located on the Arkansas River in downtown Little Rock. The lock and dam is part of the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System, a series of navigable pools on the Arkansas River formed from seventeen locks, dams, and reservoirs extending from the Port of Catoosa near Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Montgomery Point near Dumas on the Mississippi River. The McClellan-Kerr system is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Little Rock.
The project scope included the rehabilitation and painting of 14 tainter gates SSPC Containment of Entire Murray Tate with USACE specified vinyl coating system (5-EZ). Coal with Dust Collection tar epoxy system (6-A-Z) was also applied under this contract. It also included select bracing member replacements, pre-blast/clean and replaces select deteriorated welded connections, select stiffener plate replacements, skin plate repairs, miscellaneous weld repairs, side seal assembly replacements and anode replacements. It also included the disassembly and reassembly of tainter gate hoisting cable hitch block assemblies, requiring design and installation of temporary gate supports, removal of hitch block pins, inspection and cleaning of all components, coal tar painting, greasing, and replacement of o-ring seals. NDT inspection was also conducted.
