Assessment of beryllium exposures during abrasive blasting and clean up operations
As an Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida (College of Public Health- Center for Environmental and Occupational Risk Analysis and Management), Dr Guth is currently conducting a new exposure assessment study.
The goal of the study is to collect relevant exposure data to characterize the airborne and dermal beryllium exposures experienced by construction workers (nature, location, and extent). Our data will help to determine whether current abrasive blasting processes and operations while working with beryllium in trace amounts found in abrasive blast media would likely contribute to workers’ exposure risk.

Kevin Guth co-authored a chapter (Cyanides and Nitriles) in Patty’s Industrial Hygiene and Toxicology (7th edition) that will be released later in 2022.
